Let’s Not Be Silly: The Marie Arraras 911 Call,... →
dorianisms: abbyjean: garlandgreyblog: “On May 28, Arraras called Miami 911, telling the dispatcher to send the cops right away because her boyfriend had hit her and was trying to choke her. The police did eventually come to the house, arrested her boyfriend, and observed that she had a swollen lips and marks on her arms. All this you can read in this story from the Sunday New York Daily...

Hey, guess what?
dorianisms: abbyjean: barthel: Haiti is still fucked!  I know we’ve moved on to only caring about BP and the gulf oil spill, but in case you were wondering, Haiti didn’t get better just because we stopped paying attention to it.  There’s rampant crime in the refugee shantytowns, and people are still living under “leaky plastic tarps” five months after the quake.  “Haiti has made little...

How did you pick Orion's name?
Boringly enough, it was the only name my ex and I could agree on. We wanted a name that was different, but which was easily changed to something ‘normal’. So Orion can be Ryan when he’s older, if he likes. Had he been a girl, he would have been Amidala Delenn, with Amidala easily shortening to Amy. His middle name, Taliesin, has always been my favourite boys’ name. However...

What is the best thing that's happened to you this...
I had a really brilliant driving lesson yesterday morning. This doesn’t sound like that big a deal until I tell you I’ve had around eighty lessons so far, and this was the first one where my instructor said “You were really good today.” I’m a good driver, I just have a problem with confidence and concentration. As it is, he’s said that if I do as well next week...

Best easy food to make with a limited amount of...
If you have enough time, cheese sauce is really easy. Heat a pint of milk, add a couple of tablespoons of flour, wait for it to thicken, add cheese. That can be added to cooked broccoli and cauliflower, or to macaroni, for a quick filling meal. It’s delicious too. :D Ask me anything!

An intermittent feature, featuring of which is predicated mainly by what I eat for lunch. What you need to know: I eat primarily vegetarian at home because I am a cheapskate who is also incompetent when it comes to cooking animal products and I dislike Smells and animal products Smell. On heavy… This looks/sounds delicious. Just wanted to mention though, if you use fish sauce this is...

– So You’re Cisgender – What does this mean for your life? (via ihatethismess)(via feralsean) (via crustyriotqueer) (via vulpes-vulpes) Hmm, I think it’s possible for one’s gender identity to change over time. BUT other than that I agree with this, and it’s still inappropriate to say “when this...

What's the best gift you've ever given?
I gave Fred a little notebook in which I’d written lots of soppy quotes once. It took me bleedin’ ages to put it together but he seemed to like it. Ask me anything!
